Hi! I'm Melanie and I started this blog in September 2011 as a means of keeping
track of my commuting, transportation, and recreational cycling
exploits, such
as they are. The older entries are pulled from the bike-specific posts
I'd entered on my LiveJournal.
By day I'm a telecommunications goddess -- I could take
out the internet in a random Asian country if I wanted (to be
unemployed) -- and by night I'm a horror movie/trashy reality TV junkie.
If only someone could make a "Real Housewives of Zombieland" or "Dance
Monsters" (now that I think about it, some of the adults involved in that show are
already monsters), I'd be over the moon. I'm also an alumna of
Delta Gamma, a member of the
Society for Creative Anachronism (loose historical recreation), and a member of
Bike Me DC! and the
Washington Area Bicyclist Association.

I'm from a wide spot in the
road called Heth, Arkansas, which is a few miles west of the Mississippi
River and Memphis, Tennessee. My family moved to Germantown, TN (a
suburb of Memphis) in my early teens, and I spent my college years in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 1996, I
succumbed to wanderlust and moved to Virginia. I met Scott on my 30th
birthday and we wed a year and a half later in 2004. Scott's always been a fitness nut. Me? Not so much. But I returned to cycling in May 2009 and thus began our affair with two-wheeled, human-powered vehicles.

Margie is the brains of the operation... |
It's not just us and the six bicycles in our tiny little townhouse. We currently
have two four-legged carpet dwellers of the feline variety named
Marjoram (Margiekitten) and Oreo (Oreomonster). Margie will have whatever
you're eating or drinking and Oreo will chew through any unprotected power cord he can find.

Melanie,
ReplyDeletewas looking through my google analytics account and noticed a number of webhits this week originating from your site, so naturally I had to check it out. First off, great site! Anytime you want to join us for a Sunday ride through the city, feel free to join. It's free. Second, thank you very much for the mention and linking to us. I know it seems minor or arbitrary, but appreciate it none the less. Hope you had a pleasant experience dealing with us.
